Glass Blowing 2004

DSC_0124

Now it looks more like a vase

The glass now has to be shifted off the blowing pole and onto a "punty" which will hold it for the rest of the time. This involves thinning the glass where the blow pipe is connected, ataching a new rod to the other end and breaking off the blow pipe at the now weakened end.

To make the weak spot the glass is thinned with metal tweezer like things which is why the top is now bulbous. Where it breaks off will become the neck of the case (where it opens)

Here we are flattening the base ready for the new rod to be attached (temporarily)
